Robert Arthur Head was born in Wateringbury, Maidstone, Kent and enlisted at Stratford. Serving as a Lance Corporal with the 6th Dragoon Guards, he landed on the mainland with his regiment on 16 August 1914 and was killed in action at Messines, Belgium, 31 October 1914. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Menin Gate.
