Sold with two photographs of the recipient, original copy of the attestation paper for the R.F.C.; original susbstitute Certificate of Service in the R.A.F. and original Certificate of Service for the Royal Navy.

Charles Edward New was born in Fulham, Middlesex and enlisted into the Royal Flying Corps on 4 June 1915, aged 19 years, 8 months. Transferred to the R.A.F. in April 1918, he was transferred to the Reserve in 1921. During the Second World War, he volunteered for service in the Royal Navy in June 1943 and served from 24 August 1943 until 25 May 1945 when he was invalided as unfit for further service. During this time he served at Sheerness (H.M.S.
Wildfire), Lowestoft (H.M.S. Europa) and Harwich (H.M.S. Badger).
