Sold with original forwarding slip and card box, this latter addressed to ‘Captain J. A. Footit, Riverside Farm, Milton Tuxford, Newark, Notts.’

In Services of British Army Officers 1939-45, an Ian Desmond Footit is listed. Born 10 April 1918; a 2nd Lieutenant on the Unattached List in1938; with the Indian Army in 1939; he was promoted Lieutenant in 1940, with the rank of Acting-Captain during July - October 1940 and Temporary Captain during October 1940 - May 1943. He was promoted Captain with the rank of Temporary Major on 31 May 1943.
