Alexander Davison’s Medal for The Nile 1798, bronze-gilt, neatly engraved in the reverse field (Wm. Hilsdon, Theseus) contained in a silver rimmed hinged glazed case with small loop for suspension, later gilding, otherwise about very fine £350-400

It has only been possible to trace a John Hilsdon aboard this ship at the time of the battle of the Nile; born at Kensington, London, he entered Theseus on 16 August 1797 as an Ordinary Seaman.
