William Elias Scott was born in Gloucester and attested for the Corps of Lancers in 1894. Prior to the Boer War he was several times tried and convicted for desertion. He served in South Africa between 15 May 1899 and 21 October 1902 and was awarded both the Queen’s and King’s medals with two clasps. He was discharged in 1906 and in the Army Reserve until 1911. Sold with copied service papers and other research.
