An 1830/40s hardstone cameo brooch, the rectangular cushion-shaped agate carved to depict the profiles of Bacchus, the god of wine and his wife Ariadnae, within a filligree and foliate mount, lacking fitting, brooch length 32.5mm. £400-£600
Found by metal detector in Friar Wadden, Dorset.
