Born in 14 BC, Agrippina was the daughter of Marcus Agrippa and Julia Senior. As a child Agrippina lived with, and was educated by, her maternal grandfather, the emperor Augustus. At around the age of twenty she married the general Germanicus, whom she bore nine children, including the future emperor Gaius (Caligula). Continued persecution from the emperor Tiberius eventually led to her death in 33
