Canadian Memorial Cross, G.V.R. ‘466316 Pte. H. W. K. Clay.’, good very fine £60-£80

Herbert William King Clay was born in England and having emigrated to Canada attested for the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force at Medicine Hat, Alberta, on 6 July 1915. He served with the 7th Battalion Canadian Infantry during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action on the Somme on 9 September 1916. He is buried in Serre Road Cemetery No.2, France.
