Theodore Brierley Browne initially served in the Royal Ulster Constabulary, and advanced to Superintendent by 1926. Later that year he was appointed Chief Constable of the Cumberland and Westmorland Constabulary, a position he was retain until 3 December 1951 - when he ‘died in service’.
Browne’s Full Dress Uniform is held in the museum of Cumbria Constabulary at Police Headquarters, Penrith.
