Sir James McCulloch, KCMG (1819-93), b Glasgow; spent much of his life as a businessman and politician in Australia. He served four terms as Premier of Victoria between June 1863 and May 1877. Between 1872 and 1874 he returned to Britain where his commercial and political experience would doubtless have proved invaluable to the organisers of the exhibition
