James II (1685-1688), Shilling, 1685, plume at centre of cruciform shields on rev., 5.67g/6h (ESC 764; S 3411). Only fair with some minor surface porosity, reverse better with the plume clear, extremely rare £4,000-£6,000
Provenance: Found as part of a hoard of two coins, along with a William III shilling, underneath an apple tree in Shoscombe (Somerset), 2019. The hoard was recorded through the portable antiquities scheme and disclaimed in accordance with the Treasure Act (PAS SOM-E55C8D)
