The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, M.B.E. (Military) Member’s 1st type breast badge, silver, hallmarks for London 1931; British War and Victory Medals, with M.I.D. oak leaves (Lieut. J. Bradford.) the MBE a later replacement, contact marks to BWM, very fine (3) £140-£180
M.B.E. London Gazette 3 June 1919:
‘For valuable services rendered in connection with the War.’
James Bradford was commissioned into the Hampshire Regiment, and served with the 14th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front. Wounded from a fall in a trench whilst on active service, he was repatriated to the U.K. in 1917. For his services during the Great War he was created a Member of the Order of the British Empire and was Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazette 22 May 1917).
