George Frederick Marshall was born in Ipswich, Suffolk. He attested for the Royal Artillery at Great Yarmouth in December in 1893, and was posted as a Driver for service with the Royal Horse Artillery in May 1894. Marshall served with the R.H.A. in India, December 1895 - January 1906, and was discharged, 3 February 1906.
