William Faulds McAuley was born in January 1932, and served with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in Malaya. He died of an accidental gun shot wound to the head whilst on active service in Malaya, 29 May 1954, and is buried in the Kranji Military Cemetery, Singapore. McAuley’s name is also commemorated at the National Memorial Arboretum.
