Gerald Cornelius Lyon was born in St. Helens, Lancashire, on 13 September 1926 and served as Company Sergeant Major of ‘B’ Company, 1st Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers in Cyprus in 1958. He saw further service as a Regimental Sergeant Major in British Guiana, and died in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, on 12 August 1997.
