Herbert Francis Emmett was born at Fulham, London, in 1891 and attested for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry on 26 February 1909, serving with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 14 August 1914. He was discharged due to wounds on 10 April 1916, and was awarded a Silver War Badge, no. 6597.
Sold with a photocopied group photograph of the Buglers, 2nd Battalion, O.B.L.I., taken in 1914, in which the recipient is identified.
