Kings of Mercia, Offa (757-96), Penny, Light coinage, Portrait type, East-Anglian mint (Ipswich?), Wihtred, draped bust right, + offa + rex + around, rev. +p ih tr ed in angles of floriate cross lozenge, 1.16g/12h (cf. Chick 179; Naismith and Naylor –; SCBI BM –; N 302/1; S 906). Small scuff on cheek and with the usual minor surface porosity, otherwise very fine, dark find patina; the bust of unusual and appealing style £2,000-£2,600
