Darren Alistair Ferguson was born in Edinburgh in 1973 and joined the Royal Scots as a junior soldier in 1989. He served initially in the Rifle Company before being posted to the Reconnaissance Company in May 1999, and was promoted Corporal in 2002. He was discharged in 2006 (premature voluntary release) after 17 years’ service.
