Anglo-Saxon, a bronze buckle, 7th century, in the form of a stylised horse head with blue glass eyes and decoration in the centre of four straight grooves; at the top is a recessed panel which contains three rivets and the pin with an opening for a small strap to pass, 32mm long by 9mm wide. Complete, with an olive green patina £100-£150
Provenance: Found at Tewkesbury before the PAS scheme was introduced. Believed to be from a helmet similar to the one found at Sutton Hoo
