Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, undated reverse, 1 clasp, Gemaizah 1888 (2207 Pte. W. Waldie. 2/K.O. Sco: Bord:); Khedive’s Star, undated, unnamed as issued, contact marks, edge bruise to first, last part of regimental naming indistinct, otherwise nearly very fine (2) £160-£200

William Waldie, a Labourer from Edinburgh, attested into the King’s Own Scottish Borderers on 8 February 1887. He served in Egypt and Sudan from 19 July 1887 and was present with his regiment at the Battle of Gemaizah. Discharged on 7th February 1899, he transferred to the Army Reserve and was recalled for service in South Africa during the Boer War (Queen’s South Africa Medal with clasps for Cape Colony, Orange Free State, and Transvaal), before his final discharge on 1 October 1901.
