A good quality example, the blue cloth skull complete with all gilt metal fittings, the frontal plate of the Royal Arms pattern with cannon and scrolls ‘Ubique’ and ‘Quo Fas Et Gloria Ducunt’, buff leather sweatband with attached red silk lining, with manufacturer’s label ‘Sandilands & Son, 12 Conduit Street, London’, and housed in a metal carrying case by the same retailer, with name plate inscribed ‘F. West Esq., Royal Field Artillery’, gilt loss throughout, otherwise good condition £260-£300
