The 112th Annual Report of the Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society, for the year ending 1st July 1951, notes:
‘Bronze Marine Medal, Certificate and £5 to John Martin, Bronze Marine Medal and Certificate each to Constables T. Kinahan and R. B. Squires and Letters of Commendation to Police Sergeant Richard Waft and Constable John Fearon, for having rescued a boy from drowning at New Brighton, on 19 July, 1950.’
