Charles Alfred Henderson was born in Dundee on 30 June 1950 and attested there for the Royal Engineers on 3 July 1967, qualifying as a Combat Engineer and Combat Signaller. He undertook two tours of Northern Ireland, from March to October 1971 and January to June 1975, and saw service in Dhofar from September 1973 to January 1974, with the rest of his service either being at home or with the BOAR. He was discharged on 29 June 1977.
