The history of the Cartier’s ‘Trinity' design goes back to 1924. Some 80 years after the company was established in 1874 by Louis-Francois Cartier, his grandson and namesake Louis Cartier, one of the three Cartier brothers who transformed the company into arguably the world’s leading jewellers, designed an intertwined ring for the French poet and playwright Jean Cocteau. The piece included three bands in yellow gold, rose gold and white gold. This revolutionary creation would become one of the most timeless and symbolic examples of the Cartier style.
