Miscellaneous, Plating Trial, c. 1980, in conjunction with Texas Instruments, in steel with brass plating, crowned arms dividing Tower Mint logo and a rose, royal mint on banner below, rev. Texas Instruments logo above 2, all within wreath, edge plain, 23mm, 4.22g/12h (cf. Davisson Mailbid Sale 15, 316 [cupro-nickel]). Obverse very fine, reverse extremely fine, very rare; only one other seen by the cataloguer in commerce (£50-80)

Texas Instruments, Dallas, founded 1930. These trials are believed to have been struck in the late 1970s and early 1980s; the numbers on the reverses denote different plating types
