Army L.S. & G.C., W.IV.R., (J. Watt, Color Serjeant, 24th Regiment Foot, 1833) steel claw and straight bar suspension, good very fine £450-500

John Watt was born in the Parish of Westmather, near Berwick. By trade a turner, he attested for the Army in 1811, aged 22 years. He served with the 86th Regiment from 1811 to 9 March 1819 and was then transferred to the 24th Regiment. Promoted Corporal on 24 July 1819 and Serjeant on 1 October 1823, he was awarded the L.S.& G.C. medal in 1833 and discharged at his own request on 31 July 1835.
