Edward VII (1901-1910), Sovereign, 1908 (M 180; S 3969). Good very fine, a few marks and nicks; in contemporary leather case of Lloyd’s of London, accompanied with certificate £440-£500
from the shipwreck of the SS Egypt
The included certificate reads: ‘”Egypt” Salvage. This sovereign was recovered in June, 1932 by the Italian Salvage Steamer “Artigilo” from the P.&O. steamer “Egypt” which sank off Ushant on May 20th 1992 in 70 fathoms after collision. Signed P.G. MacKinnon, Chairman of Lloyd’s, 30th June 1932.’
