Ormiston Galloway McLaren, an electrician from Bath, was born on 7 July 1894. He attested into the 2/1st North Somerset Yeomanry in March 1910 and was served during the Great War on the Western Front from 2 November 1914. He was admitted to hospital suffering from frostbite. He transferred into the Army Service Corps in April 1915 for service as a Motor Driver and was later admitted to hospital in January 1917 as a result of bronchitis and shell shock. He was discharged as no longer fit for war service on 2 July 1917 and awarded a Silver War Badge, No. 126,006.
