Army of India 1799-1826, 1 clasp, Nepaul (J. Gardiner, 24th Foot.) short hyphen reverse, officially impressed naming, good very fine £1,200-£1,600

Joseph Gardiner was born in the Parish of Campden, Gloucestershire, and enlisted into the 24th Foot at Colchester, Essex, on 5 December 1805, aged 18, for unlimited service. He served in the East Indies from 3 December 1820 to 11 July 1823, and was discharged on 29 September 1823, in consequence of chronic hepatitis, the effect of the climate in India. Conduct very good.
