Thomas Edwin Brown, a Civil Servant by trade, was born on 11 February 1897 and attested for the 15th (Civil Service Rifles) Battalion, London Regiment, on 9 February 1916. Mobilised on 17 May 1917, he served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 21 August 1917, and suffered a gun shot wound to the face and legs on 29 November 1917. He was killed in action on 23 March 1918, the third day of the German Spring Offensive; he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.
