Herbert Alfred Potter was born in Thrandeston, Suffolk in August 1884. After 8 years service in the Royal Garrison Artillery, he joined ‘C’ (St. James’s) Division, Metropolitan Police, 13 June 1910. Promoted to Sergeant in July 1921, to Station Sergeant in May 1927, to Inspector, ‘K’ (Stepney) Division in October 1929, and retired on pension, 14 June 1936. Inspector Potter died in December 1963.
