Perth was the second largest mint at the period but it seems to have closed early in the sequence of type VIII issues, leaving only Berwick to maintain coin production for the next 25 years or so. The reverse reading ‘de’ instead of ‘on’ is rare and unusual and is found on only two dies - both die-linked through a common obverse to the Berwick moneyers Arnold and Walter.
