Ex Sotheby March 1888, Gaskell Collection 1911, and Glendining June 1938.

162 medals with these dates issued to the Royal Navy, but this is the only example to this ship which otherwise received 9 medals dated ‘1846’.

Aquila Alpe also received the China 1842 medal for service aboard H.M.S.
Melville, and, in November 1859, the L.S. & G.C. medal (wide suspension) as Boatswain’s Mate aboard H.M.S. Princess Royal after 21 years’ service. The latter medal was sold in the Douglas-Morris Collection (Part 1) in October 1996.
