Tom Stewartson was born in and enlisted at Whitehaven, Cumberland. Serving in the 8th Battalion Border Regiment he was killed in action in France/Flanders on 5 October 1916, aged 27 years. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. He was the son of Mrs Thompson of 70 George Street, Whitehaven.

George Gillespie was born in Aldeshot, Hampshire and living in Peel Green, Manchester enlisted in that city. Serving in the 1st Battalion Border Regiment he was killed in action in France/Flanders on 1 July 1916 - the first day of the battle of the Somme. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. Aged 40 at the time his death, he was the brother of Mr H. Gillespie of 6 Alexandra Grove, Irlam, Manchester.

James Lawson was born in Manchester, and living in Shaw, Lancashire, enlisted at Manchester. Serving in “D” Company, 6th Battalion Border Regiment, he was killed in action in Gallipoli on 9 August 1915, aged 25 years. His name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial. He was the son of William Henry and Ellen Lawson of 10 Laurel Avenue, Moss Side, Manchester.
