William Bannister was born in Stockport, Cheshire and living in Oldham, enlisted at Bury, Lancashire. Serving with the 1st Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, he was killed in action, Gallipoli, on 4 June 1915. His name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial.
James Plowright was born in and enlisted at Oldham. Serving with the 2nd/5th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 31 July 1917, aged 19 years. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Daniel Plowright of 54 Brewerton Road, Oldham.
Thomas Roskell was born in and enlisted at Preston, Lancashire. Serving with the 6th Battalion Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, he was killed in action, Mesopotamia, on 9 April 1916, aged 32 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Basra Memorial. He was the son of Mrs Margaret Jane Roskell of 32 Alfred Street, North Road, Preston.
