Reginald Croft Lever was born in London on 13 September 1837 and gaining the M.B., was appointed a Staff Assistant Surgeon on 1 October 1860. Placed on Half Pay, July 1861-January 1862, he was appointed to the 7th Hussars on 2 December 1862 and served with his unit in the expedition on the North West Frontier against the Mohmands and Bajouris led by Brevet-Colonel A. F. Macdonell in December 1863-January 1864. Attaining the rank of Surgeon-Major on 16 September 1875, he was placed on Half Pay on 30 May 1877. For many years he was in medical charge at Oxford.
