‘Robert Moore, commissionaire, seeing a lad in the river at once jumped from a steamboat to his rescue’. The rescue of G. Marsh took place at 2.45p.m. on 11 August 1879 on the River Thames (ref. R.H.S. case No.20,688). The recipient had previously served with the Rifle Brigade, 11th and 8th Hussars and was entitled to the Crimea Medal with 4 clasps, Turkish Crimea and Indian Mutiny with clasp for Central India. Sold with copied service papers.
