M.M. London Gazette 14 May 1919. ‘140th Fd. Amb., R.A.M.C.’ The recipient came from Kidderminster.
Sold with a part printed, part handwritten card to Corporal Dark, ‘I wish to place on record my appreciation of the great gallantry you displayed near Hollebeke on the night of Oct. 1st 1918, when your Collecting Post was heavily shelled and five patients were killed (signed) Sydney Law...., Major General Comdg. 41st Division’. Also a note written in pencil which accompanied the card, dated 25 October 1918, written by the Lieutenant-Colonel of the 140th Field Ambulance. Sold with original photograph of the recipient and copied extracts from the 140th Field Ambulance War Diary and other research.
