Charles Moore was born on 16 August 1865, and commissioned Lieutenant in the 1st Royal Berkshire Regiment on 29 August 1885. He took part in the Upper Nile Expedition 1885-86, and was present at the battle of Ginnis in December 1885. Promoted to Captain in November 1895, he was appointed an Instructor at the Royal Military Staff College from August 1897 to January 1903. He was promoted Major in March 1904, and was Superintendent of Gymnasia (Eastern Command), August 1904 to August 1907, and then Assistant Inspector of Gymnasia at Aldershot until August 1909. He died, whilst still serving, on 28 July 1911.
