Burdekin), 27 x 22mm, hallmarked Birmingham 1919 [8]. Very fine and better; fourth and last in cases of issue £80-£100

The Sheffield Prisoners of War Committee hosted a reception in the Town Hall in February 1919 for some 300 repatriated Sheffield soldiers; the silver badges were presented to them by the Mayor and Mayoress, William Irons and Mrs Irons. Dr J.T. Burdekin, a prefect at the school, was later to become president of the Old Edwardians Association
