Royal Navy Fighting For Queen Donna Maria II of Portugal, two very fine and historically important officer’s buttons, worn by Royal Naval officers who made up the Royalist fleet which won the decisive battle of Cape St. Vincent in July 1833. The buttons (one large, one small) are convex, closed back, with the mark “Jennens & Co. London”, the finely raised design shows a central Portuguese crown over script “DM” over “II” ,this on a lined around the edge within a double roped circle ‘Royal Navy” (incised). Sold with full research on the conflict and a biography of the British Commander Admiral Sir Charles Napier, very good condition (2) £60-80
