This performance was at the Grand Theatre, Toronto. It had previously been on Broadway in 1890 at the Lyceum Theatre where Sothern was the leading man. Edward Hugh Sothern was a successful American career actor who specialised in dashing and romantic leading roles. He played many roles over an almost 50 year period, from 1879 to 1928.
