Charles Wilberforce Wildman was appointed Ensign in the Royal Irish Fusiliers on 22 May 1866; Lieutenant, 5 February 1868; Captain, 14 September 1875; retired pay Hon. Major, 27 June 1885. Major Wildman served with the 1st Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers in the Egyptian War of 1882, and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
