Harold John Wood was born at Brixham, Devon, in September 1884 and, having qualified for his Certificate of Competency in April 1913, was appointed a Skipper in the Royal Naval Reserve in May 1915. Initially given command of the hired trawler Elise, he was employed on similar duties for the duration of the War, although he also held command of a drifter, the Itonian, from September-December 1917. His final wartime appointment was as C.O. of the trawler John Braskett and he was demobilised in March 1919; sold with copied service record.
