The Uniform Coinage of India, British Imperial Period, Victoria, original silver Proof set, 1862 [1863], Calcutta, comprising Rupee, type F/IV [Prid. A/I], crowned and robed bust left, victoria queen, 3.75 panels in jabot, v on bodice at centre, round pearls in crown with single line curves, crescent at point of shoulder, rev. one rupee above india and date, all within scroll-like wreath of Indian flora, top flower with square points, plain cone below top flower, bud cone above one, no cone by last e of rupee, edge grained, 11.69g/12h (Prid. 61 [Sale, lot 234]; SW 4.47; KM. 473.1); Half-Rupee, type A/II [Prid. A/I], similar, but 4 panels in jabot, top flower with spikes pointing upwards, flat top to 1 of date, indistinct cones, edge grained, 5.81g/12h (Prid. 253 [Sale, lot 234]; SW 4.118; KM. 472; cf. Fore I, 524); Quarter-Rupee, type A/II [Prid. A/I], similar, but inverted v on bodice at centre, flat top to 1 of date, altered flower at 6 o’clock, edge grained, 2.92g/12h (Prid. 374 [Sale, lot 235]; SW 4.131; KM. 470; cf. Fore I, 452); 2 Annas, type I [Prid. A/I], similar, but inverted v on bodice at centre, flat top to 1 of date, top flower with long side leaves, edge plain, 1.45g/12h (Prid. 482 [Sale, lot 234]; SW 4.143; KM. 469; cf. Fore I, 355) [4]. Some spotting on the Quarter-Rupee, otherwise brilliant and virtually as struck, most attractive reflective tone, very rare, especially as an original set £5,000-£7,000
