William Anderson was born in the Parish of Cornick, Fife, and enlisted at Glasgow on 8 November 1815, aged 18, a weaver by trade. He served overseas in Canada for 6 years, otherwise at Home, and was discharged on 9 July 1839, in consequence of ‘Loss of power in left arm and deafness of the left year.’
