D.C.M. London Gazette 11 March 1916:
;For conspicuous gallantry on all occasions since the beginning of the war, in charge of his gun, and frequently under a very heavy shell fire. His courage and devotion to duty have been most marked.’
Edward Charles Trudgill served with the Royal Horse Artillery in France from 15 August 1914 and is entitled to the clasp on his star. Later commissioned, he was Adjutant of the West Lancashire Divisional Ammunition Column from 14 February 1917.
