A most attractive Proof Halfpenny, 1770
George III (1760-1820), Tower Mint, London, Proof Halfpenny, 1770, in copper, laureate bust right, rev. Britannia seated left, curved raised lines on scroll at base of shield, stop after legend, wide border teeth, edge plain, 12.05g/12h (BMC 895; ‘Selig’ 1313; S 3774). Spot between i and a of britannia and a couple of other trifling spots in reverse field, otherwise brilliant and as struck, most attractive reflective patina, very rare [previously certified and graded NGC PF 65 BN] £1,800-£2,200
