Officers’ Collar Badges of the Free French Troops Serving in the Levant 8 June -11 July 1941. A most interesting collection of 14 items, the badges of 'kite' shape display the facing colour of each regiment and the unit distinction in gold or silver wire, all are complete with a finial button though 9 of these are in fact plain. Well displayed and annotated contained in a very fine hinged and glazed mahogany case, very good condition (14) £200-300

The label on the reverse states that these troops were under the command of Brigadier General Charles de Gaulle and were given to Miss A MacMichael by the ADC who was General Charles L. C. Huntziger's son. The French General Huntziger was Chairman of the delegation that met Hitler in a railway carriage at Compiegne on 22 June 1940 to sign the Armistice ending the war with France.
