Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (3412 James Ervin, 17th [Regt.]), contemporary engraved naming; Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue (3412 Pte., 1st Bn. 17th Foot); Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian issue (3412 James Ervin, 1st Battn. 17th Regt.), contemporary engraved naming, the first with contact marks and edge bruising with resultant loss of part of naming, fair to fine, the second with edge bruising and contact marks, about very fine and the last a polished good fine (3) £180-220
This lot was sold as part of a special collection, The Collection of Medals to the Leicester Regiment and Yeomanry formed by the late Trevor Harris.

James Ervin was born at Drumhall in Co. Antrim and enlisted in the 17th Regiment at Ballymena in June 1854, aged 19 years. In his subsequent career of 21 years with the Colours, his overseas postings included active service before Sebastopol during the Crimea War and a nine year period of duty in Canada. He was discharged in June 1875.
